Course overview

On this course, you will learn about the following:

  • To understand characteristics of Autism Spectrum conditions in children and young people.
  • To understand how communications and behaviour link
  • To develop strategies for identifying and managing behaviour
  • To explore available support networks

As part of this wellbeing course, you will also take part in other activities aimed at helping you to develop a better understanding of your mental health.

Eligibility criteria

The course will be free to adults aged 19 or over

 

Venue and accessibility

Sutton Hill Community Centre (The Hub) offers a large hall and two classrooms available to hire, including computer access.

There is a community run café which offers a range of hot and cold drinks as well as sandwiches and snacks. Opening times vary.

The building is wheelchair accessible. Free car parking is at the centre along with local shops.

After the course

Information, Advice and Guidance will be provided at the end of the course about other opportunities for learning. We also offer a range of other community courses.

Learners who want to progress to work in a school will need to gain a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths. We offer a range of courses to gain these qualifications. There is an opportunity to progress to an accredited OCNWM Level 1 in Supporting Children’s Learning course or OCNWM Level 1 in Child Development so please search the website for more details.
