This is a beginner level course in basic drawing skills and painting techniques, where you will learn to explore and experiment using a variety of art materials. During the course, you will develop your drawing and painting skills and gain confidence to create some beautiful pieces of artwork, to give as gifts for special occasions or use for your home. You will also learn some enterprise skills and contribute to an project to make and sell craft pieces.
During the course you will produce a portfolio of work towards the Level 1 Award in Skills for Living and Work - Craft Pathway (AIM Qualifications). If you have already achieved the qualification from Open College Network West Midlands Level 1 Award in Craft Design or Craft and Enterprise you will not be eligible to join this course.

On this course, you will explore Sashiko, a Japanese embroidery craft, and combined with experimental stitching skills, you will develop new skills to create decorative hand stitching and textiles artwork. At the end of the course, you will produce some beautifully decorated pieces of craft and art work to give as gifts for special occasions or for your home. You will also learn some enterprise skills and contribute to a project to make and sell craft pieces.
This Level 2 accredited course is intended for learners who have completed the Level 1 Award in Craft and Enterprise or have other previous craft experience up to Level 1 and want to continue their learning by progressing to a Level 2 Award.
