It is a course intended to prepare people to apply for jobs in residential, domiciliary care or as a Personal Assisstant.
The course is intended to raise awareness of the career opportunities available, diversity and flexibility afforded by the roles and sources of support available to employees. It includes training on how to produce a CV and personal statement, using the Find a PA website to identify job opportunities and to register a profile. Learners will be introduced to the services available to service users through POhWER.
In addition to introducing the skills needed and opportunities available to work and progression career opportunities in this sector the course will also boost confidence and improve job applications.
It will be busy, practical and relevant with input from sector specialists and employees.
You must attend the information session to enrol on this course.
The pre-course information session on Monday 22nd October will enable you to find out about the course and to meet the tutor.
Learners must be aged 19 or over to be eligible for this course.
The course is free if you are:
You will need to provide evidence of your income if you are employed and believe you are entitled to a free course. This could be a pay slip or contract of employment.
If you are employed, the course is part funded by the government and you will be required to make a contribution of £56. We also operate a fee remission policy, so if you earn more than £15,736.50 per year but still cannot afford to pay for course you can apply for support. This may mean you get the course for free. Please contact us if you would like to make an application.
Sutton Hill Community Centre offers a large hall and two classrooms available to hire, including computer access.
There is a community run café which offers a range of hot and cold drinks as well as sandwiches and snacks. Opening times vary. The building is wheelchair accessible.
Free car parking is at the centre along with local shops.
