Course overview

For parents who have a child at Wrockwardine Wood Infants School.

This fun and informal course provides an opportunity for parents and their child to explore a range of handmade Festive crafting techniques in a relaxed, informal environment. The focus of Wellbeing will be promoted throughout and learners are fully supported in this safe and friendly course. You will be also using everyday maths skills to design and create your crafts as well as thinking about costing up and sustainability.

Aims of the Programme; To provide an opportunity for learners to explore a range of handmade crafting techniques • To encourage learners to think creatively to create a beautiful gifts • To encourage learners to have fun and progress onto further learning and/or employment • To provide a relaxed, friendly space for learners to interact with each other • To support Wellbeing

All craft materials will be provided for each session and you will be able to take your creations home.

You must attend the information and enrolment session to enrol on this course.

You MUST commit to all 6 sessions in order to successfully complete this course.

 

Eligibility criteria

For parents who have a child at Wrockwardine Wood Infants School.

Parents do not need any previous experience. Any parents with special needs can discuss these with the tutor at enrolment to ensure that the course is suitable or can be adapted for their needs. The course is available to all adults who have children in the school. If numbers applying for the course are high, preference will be given to parents who:

  • do not hold a Level 2 maths or English qualification
  • are unemployed or retired
  • are claiming Job Seekers' Allowance
  • are employed and looking to progress onto further Family Learning courses
  • are parents/carers of children/young people who are entitled to free school meals
  • have been referred to the course for the purposes of improving their mental health and wellbeing
