Course overview

ur Functional Skills English courses provide an opportunity to work towards a City and Guilds qualification up to Level 2.  They are for adults aged 19+ who don't already have a Level 2 qualification in English or who previously gained a level 2 qualification but currently have English skills below that level.  Our Autumn 2025 courses will be launched later this year.  In the meantime, if you register your interest a member of our team will get in touch to discuss courses with you.

Our functional skills courses are offered across Telford in community venues. We run morning and afternoon sessions during school term time only.  We offer four levels of English functional skills from Entry 2 through to Level 2.  There is opportunity to work towards a City and Guilds qualification in Functional Skills English and to progress between levels up to Level 2.

If you haven't attended one of our functional skills courses already, when you join a course you will be asked to undertake a short skills assessment to help us advise you on an appropriate course.

If you are not a native English speaker, please see our ESOL courses, which are especially for adults who have English as an additional language.

Session details

Courses run for 17 or 18 sessions and start in the Autumn and Spring terms each academic year.  Courses are available at a range of community venues across Telford and Wrekin.

If we cannot offer you a place on your preferred course, we may be able to offer a course at another of our community venues in Telford.
