Course overview

Do you have a passion for food or want to start a career in the catering industry? Why not come along and gain a Level 2 qualification in Food Safety, in a warm and friendly environment, with our experienced tutor.

During this one- day course you will learn about:

  • food safety legislation
  • personal hygiene
  • keeping work areas clean and tidy
  • identifying and resolving food safety issues.
  • catering practices

This course provides an opportunity to gain a City and Guilds Qualification Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering.

As this is a level 2 course, at the start of the session the tutor will ask you to complete a short assessment to ensure that the course is appropriate for you. Due to the course content, you will need a sufficient understanding of English to complete this qualification.

You must complete an online application form before this course starts.

Please bring a form of photo ID with you to the first session.

Session details

This is a one-day course 9:15-4:30

There are facilities to make hot drinks at the venue but bringing lunch and snacks would be advisable. There are cafes 5- 10 minutes walk away.

 

 

 

 

Eligibility criteria

The course is free if you are:

  • Unemployed
  • or you are employed and earn less than £25,000 annual gross salary

You will need to provide evidence of your income if you are employed and believe you are entitled to a free course. This could be a pay slip or contract of employment.
If you are employed, the course is part funded by the government but you will be required to make a contribution of £37.80.

We also operate a fee remission policy, so if you earn more than £25,000 per year but still cannot afford to pay for the course you can apply for support. This may mean you get the course for free.  Please contact us if you would like to make an application.

Learners must be aged 19 or over from 1st August 2024.

Unfortunately you will not be eligible to enrol on this course if you live in Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley, Solihull or Birmingham.

Bishton Court is wheelchair accessible and is situated on the ground floor, wheelchair accessible toilets are also available.

 There is no parking onsite at Bishton Court.

Public transport

Bishton Court is only a short walk away from Telford bus station by walking through the shopping centre towards Aldi car park.  You then need to cross the road and walk through The Station Quarter and we are situated on the corner by The Quad building.  We are also only a short walk from Telford Train Station over the bridge. 

Various parking is available at the town centre at a charge.
