Course overview

This course is for parents, grandparents and carers and their child who attends Lantern Primary

This fun and informal course provides an opportunity for parents to work with their child to create fun and inspirational crafts that promote Wellbeing for both the body and mind, positive eating behaviours and Mindfullness techniques to stay calm and centred.

The sessions are very informal, with many activities to do together which are designed to be interesting and fun to inspire both parent and child. The tutor works in conjunction with the setting's own curriculum. Tutors will encourage parents to discuss their own experiences where mindfulness and wellbeing strategies have inspired positive outcomes.

ALL RESOURCES WILL BE PROVIDED

Session details

You must attend all sessions to complete this course.

One child from each family only. If there are more than one child in a single family at the school, parents may alternate with each child attending every other week.

Eligibility criteria

This course is for parents, grandparents and carers and their child who attends Lantern Primary

Learners must be aged 19 or over to be eligible for this course.

The course is free if you:

  • do not hold a Level 2 qualification, including English or maths
  • are unemployed or retired
  • are attending a designated ‘engagement’ course where the learning totals less than 10 hours
  • are referred to the provision directly as part strengthening families’ initiative
  • are parents/carers of children/young people who are entitled to free school meals
  • have been referred to the course for the purposes of improving their mental health and wellbeing
  • do not meet any of the above criteria but work for a voluntary and/or community organisation where the course will build the capacity of that organisation to support and develop its local community

If you do not meet any of the above criteria, the course is part funded by the government but you will be required to make a contribution. You can apply for a reduction to the fee if you feel it is unaffordable given your circumstances. Please contact us if you would like more information.
