Join us and experience learning new skills on this FREE watercolour painting course for absolute beginners.

This course welcomes anyone who’s new to learning with Learn Telford.

You don’t need any previous experience, just register your interest and give it a try!
Our friendly, informal sessions are led by an experienced tutor who’s here to support you every step of the way.

 

On this free beginners watercolor painting course, you will explore how to develop your skills in watercolour painting and experiment using a variety of papers and materials, and gain confidence to create some beautiful pieces of artwork, to give as gifts for special occasions or use for your home.

Creating art can be very therapeutic and help you to spend some time away from the stresses of everyday life and enjoy some ‘me’ time.

During this course you will have the opportunity to:

  • explore basic painting methods and techniques in watercolour

  • understand how to use materials and equipment safely and look after your equipment

  • understand how to achieve different colours mixes, various textures, tone, shade, pattern

  • experiment and create textural effects using variety of paper

  • understand about being sustainable, and more resourceful with materials to create your art

 

All materials will be provided on this course. Learners with any special needs can discuss these with the tutor at enrolment to ensure that the course is suitable or can be adapted for their needs.

 

Session details

This course is for 5 weeks, please check you can attend every session for the whole course.
If these dates or times are not suitable, we will be offering more courses later in the year.

Once you've registered your interest, you will receive emails from us to keep you updated and to provide you with more information.

At the first session, bring your ID and the tutor will offer you details about the course, and a chance to ask any questions.

Eligibility criteria

Learners must be aged 19 or over from 1st August 2025.

Unfortunately you will not be eligible to enrol on this course if you live in Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley, Solihull or Birmingham.

The course is FREE for those who are eligible to enrol on the course.

 

Venue and accessibility

Cosy Hall is situated close to the Town Centre of Newport, Shropshire.

The Gallery Room is on the ground floor, there is a small kitchen, baby changing and disabled facilities and toilets.
