Course overview

Do you have a passion for food or want to start a career in the catering industry? Why not come along and gain a Level 2 qualification in Food Safety with our experienced tutor.

During this one- day course you will learn about:

  • food safety legislation
  • personal hygiene
  • keeping work areas clean and tidy
  • identifying and resolving food safety issues.
  • catering practices

This course provides an opportunity to gain a City and Guilds Qualification Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering.

As this is a level 2 course, at the start of the session the tutor will ask you to complete a short activity to ensure that the course is appropriate for you. You will need a good understanding of English language to be able to access the course content and complete the assessment.

You must complete an online application form before this course starts.

Before the course starts, we will contact you via phone.

Please bring a form of photo ID with you to the first session and evidence of your annual salary/wage if you are working.

Session details

This is a one-day course 9:15-4:30

There is a cafe on site or local shops in the centre, to purchase any refreshments you may need. Or feel free to bring your own from home. 

 

Eligibility criteria

The course is free if you are:

  • Unemployed
  • or you are employed and earn less than £25,750 annual gross salary

You will need to provide evidence of your income if you are employed and believe you are entitled to a free course. This could be a pay slip or contract of employment.
If you are employed, the course is part funded by the government but you will be required to make a contribution of £37.80.

We also operate a fee remission policy, so if you earn more than £25,750 per year but still cannot afford to pay for the course you can apply for support. This may mean you get the course for free.  Please contact us if you would like to make an application.

Learners must be aged 19 or over from 1st August 2025.

Unfortunately you will not be eligible to enrol on this course if you live in Wolverhampton, Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley, Solihull or Birmingham.

Accessibility  

All areas of Park Lane Centre are fully accessible. All first floor facilities can be accessed via a lift. There are 2 separate accessible WC located on both the ground floor and first floor. 

 

Car Parking  

There are sufficient car parking spaces available both to the front and rear of the Centre.
