Train to Teach

Working in adult (post-compulsory) education and want to become a qualified teacher?

If the answer is 'yes' , the Certificate in Education or the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education - run by Learn Telford in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton - is right for you!

The programme is a two year part time course designed for trainers and teachers already working in an adult education setting. It provides a nationally recognised qualification for post compulsory education (PCE) practitioners and will equip them with the knowledge and skills to work effectively within the sector.

The course has a mandatory teaching practice requirement and applicants must have access to teach 150 hours over the two years.

There are two options:

  • The Undergraduate Certificate in Education is aimed at vocational teachers who do not hold a degree but hold level three or above qualification in their subject specialism
  • The Professional Graduate Certificate in Education is designed for people who already hold a degree

The programme is delivered at the University Centre Telford at Southwater One. The next course will start on 4th November 2021, sessions will run on Thursdays 1pm to 6pm, but it is important to contact us well in advance of this to complete your application.

The course fee is £3,125 approximately for the first year (the 2nd year will be a similar cost, but fees for 2021- 2023 are not yet confirmed) Fees can be covered by a student loan from Student Finance England if necessary.
